  • Informatics Challenges

    1. Global subsidiaries have different financial systems: domestic headquarters and Hong Kong companies use Kingdee system, US companies use NetSuite, and German companies have no financial system;

    2. Separation of business and finance: there is no integrated process of business and finance between the business centre and the finance system, and there is no effective docking; Western Post has developed its own business centre (based on the globalized WMS), which is linked to the front-end self-developed CRM, OMS and TMS systems; however, there is no effective docking with the back-end Kingdee or NetSuite, and the centre manages the business, while the back-end finance system manages the financial accounting, so there is no way to talk about the integration of business and finance;

    3. There are problems in the through process planning of the business centre and back-office financial system: for example, the duties and boundaries of the centre and back-office, the design of the nodes and frequency of docking;

    4. Functional limitations of the financial systems themselves: Kingdee system could not meet the requirements of internationalised financial management; the basic version of NetSuite purchased by the US subsidiary did not cover the fixed assets module, and an external sub-system was used at that time to deal with warehouse forklift financing and leasing matters;

    5. No personalised advanced financial functions: with many types of business, complex inter-subsidiary related transactions and more rules, the standard functions of Kingdee and NetSuite cannot meet the automation of such complex inter-company related transactions, and certain customised development is required.
