Today, Tomorrow and the Next 20 Years for NetSuite

This year marks the 20th anniversary of NetSuite. And while a lot of things have changed since 1998, our mission hasn’t wavered: Enabling organizations to realize their vision by delivering a complete suite of applications to run their business.

This is even true since the Oracle acquisition. In fact, Oracle has enabled us to focus more on our mission. Not only are we building upon what’s already great about NetSuite, we’re also investing in new initiatives that will enable our customers, partners and team to thrive for the next 20 years and beyond.

In particular, we’re making investments in three major areas:

    Increase in Research and Development
Adoption of More Oracle Technology, Including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
    International Expansion

As an independent company, we were increasing our R&D investment year after year. As part of Oracle, that investment has multiplied with a laser-focus on the engineers that are building on the NetSuite product.

Of course, adopting Oracle Technology is not entirely new. NetSuite has always leveraged Oracle Technology, but now that we’re part of Oracle, we have direct access to Oracle engineers and the latest innovations they are working on in areas like machine learning, blockchain and AI, which is not only really cool, but has proven to be a game-changer.

Additionally, Oracle is making significant investments in OCI. As we expand internationally, we will leverage the 11 global datacenters that utilize the OCI infrastructure. It’s important to note that we were doing well with our classic datacenters, and this transition won’t happen overnight. However, as we continue to move onto OCI, it will allow us to expand more quickly and at a lower resource cost, which means we can focus more attention on the NetSuite offering.

OCI is specifically architected to provide the consistently fast performance, versatility and governance required to run the most demanding workloads for Oracle’s largest customers. It will further enable and reinforce our execution at NetSuite and provide access to the thousands of OCI developers and operations personnel to improve efficiency, reliability and security. OCI also continuously deploys infrastructure through a built-in resilience model with multiple availability domains per region. If something goes awry, there’s a back-up (and a back-up for that back-up).

Lastly, every company is expanding internationally, and our goal is to help our customers and partners embrace that opportunity. Right now, NetSuite is operating in 199 countries, supporting 190 currencies and 24 languages. And we will only continue to grow from here. Not only are we expanding our global presence, we’ll also support more currencies, languages and localizations.

Since day one of the Oracle acquisition, Mark Hurd said NetSuite will live forever, and he’s stuck by those words ever since. Oracle continues to increase its investment in NetSuite so that we can continue investing in our customers. It really is all about more. And that’s a win-win that will help ensure we can continue to fulfill the mission we set forth from the start.

Needless to say, it’s been a great 20 years, and we’re looking forward to the next 20!
